NAMWOLF 2019 Is a Sweet Success for Willenken LLP
Willenken LLP’s sugary Expo booth was only one of the successful events in which the firm participated during the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) Annual Meeting & Law Firm Expo in Los Angeles on September 23.
A key part of the NAMWOLF Annual Meeting, the Law Firm Expo provides in-house counsel the opportunity to meet with and learn about NAMWOLF’s member law firms, and in this year’s case, satisfy their sweet tooth. Attorneys from across the country lined up at Willenken’s booth to meet partners Eileen Ahern, Paul Loh, and Jason Wilson, drop off their business card, and enjoy “A Taste of L.A. Desserts,” featuring macarons from Bottega Louie’s patisserie in Downtown Los Angeles and ice cream sandwiches from Coolhaus, a women-owned premium ice cream brand that was founded in the Los Angeles area. For every business card collected, the firm made a contribution to the Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (BWL) Foundation for its law school students scholarship program.
Earlier that day, Paul spoke on a panel titled “Ratatouille – Hold the Rat (Crisis Management for Customer-Focused Business and the Lawyer’s Role).” Paul and his co-panelists, Raven Moore of McDonald’s Corporation and Kevin Murch of Perez & Morris, LLC, discussed handling “crisis” level complaints for businesses and the lawyer’s role in reacting to the complaint, forming a “rapid response team,” and protecting the brand through social media and other messaging while planning for the potential of litigation.
Following the Law Firm Expo, Jason and the NAMWOLF Trials Practice Area Committee (PAC), of which he serves as co-chair, co-hosted a popular bowling social with the NAMWOLF Restaurant, Retail, & Hospitality PAC at Lucky Strike L.A. Live. Paul, as co-chair of the White Collar Defense & Internal Investigations PAC, also co-hosted cocktails and French dip sandwiches with the International Law PAC at The Varnish, a speakeasy located in L.A.’s oldest public house, Cole’s French Dip.
