Eileen Ahern Presents a CLE with Snap Inc. on Section 230 of the CDA
On September 24, partner Eileen Ahern sat down with two members of Snap Inc.’s in-house litigation team, Nicole Diaz and Noah Perez-Silverman, to discuss content moderation under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA). The discussion was filmed as a CLE presentation titled, “Hosting Content on Your Website? What You Need to Know About Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act," and released as a video on November 10.
In the video, Nicole, a former Willenken associate and now senior counsel of litigation and compliance at Snap Inc., moderates the conversation between her colleague Noah, senior counsel of litigation and regulatory compliance at Snap Inc., and Eileen. They explore the language and history of the CDA, reviewing notable case law along the way. They then provide tips to in-house counsel who might be considering CDA immunity when advising their companies about risk related to different online activities. Finally, they examine the future of the CDA and changing public sentiment regarding online platforms.
The CLE presentation is highly recommended for companies that host any third-party content on their websites. The full video is now available here. A clip of Eileen explaining the two buckets of CDA immunity in which a company can fall can be viewed on our LinkedIn page.
