Appellate Practice

Premier appellate advocacy requires specialized procedural knowledge, a commitment to producing written work of the highest quality, finely honed oral presentation skills, and a thorough understanding of the trial process.
Our firm is acutely aware of the unique recipe for appellate success. Several of our attorneys have served as appellate clerks and several have substantial hands-on appellate experience. Clients engage our lawyers to handle appeals or write amicus curiae briefs, even when another law firm serves as trial counsel.
Our appellate attorneys appear at all levels of both the federal and state courts and have successfully handled a broad range of appeals of judgments. Our recent appellate cases include:
- Appearing twice on the merits before the United States Supreme Court.
- Appearing before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Court in a dispute regarding the nexus between the patent exhaustion doctrine and the Declaratory Judgment Act.
- Before the Ninth Circuit, successfully obtained an affirmance of our winning motion for summary judgment at the district court level.
- Before the Ninth Circuit, successfully obtained an affirmance of our trial victory at the district court level.
